DESCRIPTION:Call for Volunteers\n\n\nDate: May 12\, 2025 – August 1\, 2025\n\n\n\n\n\nLocation: New York\, United States\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Disability History Association is looking for a Director of Development. \nThe responsibilities of the Director of Development include: \n\nStrategically prioritizing development initiatives\, including grant research and writing\nDeveloping and implementing a plan for grassroots-level fundraising\nIdentifying and seeking relationships with potential donor institutions and organizations\nWorking as a member of the Board of Directors to shape the direction of the DHA and to ensure that the DHA remains accountable\, sustainable\, and effective in its operations; and\nAttending monthly Board meetings.\n\nDirectors also participate in other projects as required\, as well as the general governance of the organization. \nThe time commitment is approximately 2-5 hours per week\, though this may vary. Board members serve a three-year term. This is an unpaid\, volunteer position. \nAll Directors must agree to the DHA conflict of interest policy and sign a form. Sitting Directors are ineligible for DHA- and DHA-sponsored awards. You can read our policy in full here. \nThe DHA commits to anti-oppressive practices. Scholars who are from marginalized and equity-seeking communities are particularly encouraged to apply\, as are community-based scholars. The board also welcomes non-historians and non-academics who engage with disability history in their work.
