SUMMARY:CFP: Workshop: Neurodiversity in the German-speaking world
DESCRIPTION:The digital workshop on 12. November 2026 invites researchers to exchange information on neurodivergence\, disregard and neurodiversity studies. Short contribution proposals can be up to 30. September 2026 will be submitted. \nNeurodiversity Studies in the humanities and cultural sciences already have a permanent place in the English-speaking countries and in Scandinavia. Since the 2000s\, the field of research has differentiated itself – starting from the autistic community and Judy Singer’s neurodiversity paradigm. Whether Critical ADHD or Tourettic Studies: The critical examination of neurodivergent realities and concepts of “backlash” is closely interlinked with disability and mad studies.\nIn the German-speaking countries\, on the other hand\, theoretical foundation and academic networking on this topic has so far hardly been pronounced. A new\, interdisciplinary workshop now wants to change that. \nOn 12. November 2026 a first digital networking meeting will take place via Zoom. The aim is to bring together researchers from all career stages and to initiate an open exchange on methodological/theoretical\, scientific-historical and socio-political issues.\nAs a keynote speaker\, Bridger Bartlett (Swansea) was acquired and will provide insights into the transnational literary project AMEND (eArly Modern European NeuroDivergence). \nWe are looking for short impulse lectures (5–10 minutes) from the literary\, media\, cultural or social sciences\, which deal with neurodivergence from an intersectional and critical perspective. Unfinished\, exploratory considerations and artistic contributions are just as welcome as notions of (finished) projects. Proposals can go up to 30. September 2026 will be submitted to the organizers. For further information\, please refer to the attached CfP. \nIn order to make the workshop as accessible as possible\, agreements on assistance requirements can be made in advance.
