Call for Presenters!

UKDHHH Connecting +  Sharing Event, Thursday 6th June 2024 @ Manchester Deaf Centre

Presentations in person (in an accessible environment) – we’ll have some additional in-person spaces and a remote access option to expand the event to our wider home + international community!

The UK Disability History and Heritage Hub (UKDHHH) links organisations and individuals working with, or interested in, the histories of disabled, neurodivergent or Deaf people.

This year, we’ll host our first ‘Connecting + Sharing’ event: the goal is to build networks amongst academic and independent researchers, professionals and volunteers in museums, archives and heritage, creative practitioners, and activist communities.

We plan to showcase a large range of short research presentations and projects with an interdisciplinary theme, and we encourage submissions from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives!

Share your ideas!

Submission deadline, Wednesday 17th April 2024, by email (details below)

We welcome diverse presentation formats – academic papers, conversation or interview styles, creative presentations centred around arts – your ideas are the limits! 5 minutes is the preferred presentation length, but we’re open to alternative suggestions on submission.

We’ll work with you to ensure attending and presenting at the event is accessible, and to prevent any technical problems arising. There will be British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation from Manchester Deaf Centre along with Speech-to-Text captioning (STTR). Please get in touch to discuss access requests and potential assistance with domestic travel costs (at the email below).

Please submit proposed presentations to ukdishistheritagehub@gmail.com titling the email ‘Connecting + Sharing Event Submission’ and your initials. Just send us a short summary (around 200 words) and a bit about you/your organisation (around 100 words) if making a written submission. Please get in touch if you would prefer to submit in another format (eg. Video in BSL, Audio Recording).

• Conference Registration begins for all – Thu 25th April
