CFP: Disability in German and English Narratives
CFP: „DISABILITY IN GERMAN AND ENGLISH NARRATIVES“ IN: JAHRBUCH FÜR INTERNATIONALE GERMANISTIK (PETER LANG VERLAG)
The Jahrbuch für internationale Germanistik, published by Peter Lang and indexed by the Web of Science (Arts and Humanities Index – AHCI) and Book Citation Index (BKCI), invites scholarly contributions for a special issue on Disability in German and English Narratives.
This volume seeks to explore the literary, cultural, and discursive representations of disability in German- and English-language literatures. We welcome contributions from Germany, Asia, Africa and America that examine how disability is portrayed, constructed, and negotiated in fictional and non-fictional texts across time periods—from early modern literature to contemporary works.
Possible areas of focus include but are not limited to:
Literary representations of physical, sensory, or mental disability
Disability in medieval or early modern narratives
Postmodern and posthuman readings of disabled bodies
The intersection of disability with gender, class, race, or religion
Theoretical frameworks from Disability Studies applied to German and English texts
Comparative or transnational perspectives on disability narratives
Inclusion, exclusion, and the normalization of bodies in literature and culture
